Or, here's the basics:
It's not enough to just believe in Jesus, the demons do and they're still going to hell. ()
Sin - disobedience to God - turning away from God - not following God's path for you. Sin isn't a list of things you shouldn't do.
We all fall short (). We all screw up and make mistakes - we're human, and because of that, none of us are good enough to be in God's sight. Someone had to redeem us - pay for our sins. God sent Jesus to "buy us back". We don't have to be perfect to go to heaven, but we have to do more than just believe in Jesus. John 3:16 - we must commit our lives to him.
You can be the "nicest" person in the world, but unless you are submitting to God - you're going to hell for your pride.
Jesus is coming back. When he does, those who have died will be resurrected and we will all be judged. Only those that can call on Jesus will be justified/forgiven and spend eternity with God. () ()
God does NOT help those who help themselves - that is not in the Bible. God helps those who are helpless and who call on Him. When we admit we can't do it on our own - we can't be good enough to get into heaven on our own - then he gives us the power to overcome all obstacles. () ()
Don't try to get your life in order before coming to God! Ask Him into your life - give Him control - then He'll fix things. He'll remodel your life. Some of it will be a little painful and uncomfortable, but everything he gets rid of in your life, he replaces with something much better.
We all worship something - we were created to worship - we were created with a need to worship. If we're not worshiping God, we're worshiping something else. What's most important in your life? Worship = focus. What do you spend the most time thinking about?
Disclaimer: In the title above, I'm using "sinners" to mean people who commit sins (we all sin sometime - see above), not people who deliberately disobey God. Note that some people say that while Christians sin, they aren't "sinners". Following those lines, "sinners" don't go to heaven, but people who sin do. I used a little literary license to make a shorter, more readable title to put on my car.
